Mica In Make-up. Let’s talk clean cosmetics.

MICA is a naturally occurring silicate mineral that is mined all over the world for use in everything from household and automotive paints, to electronics, to the cosmetics. Mica powder adds shimmer to your gloss, eyeshadow, bronzer, etc.

Sourced primarily from India, the Mica industry is heavily involved in child labor, forced labor, wage theft, and overall corruption. One company has spent the last year tracking the sketchy supply chain to pave the way for transparent global sourcing ultimately. That company? Beautycounter.

By now, you probably know that I support Beautycounter for their high-quality, tested-clean skincare and cosmetics (they’ve now banned 1800 shady, unsafe ingredients from their personal care products when the FDA has banned just 30 since 1938). Furthermore, they are the only cosmetics company using their platform for positive global intervention, in addition to continued national advocacy.

Get the scoop & take action with these 3 steps:

  • Learn more about the dark side of Mica–check out the Beautycounter documentary HERE and/or read the FAQs.
  • Shop brands that are working to eradicate child labor, see below for some recs.
  • Text MICA to 52886 to ask our government leaders to act.

Mica itself is a clean ingredient, but the supply chain is not. Here’s how to get your “glow” safely and ethically; it’s time to support companies committed to environmental ethics and full ingredient transparency.

Swap for all around clean shimmer, here’s your new 3 min GLOW:
